JOHN BUCK
MYERS RIDERS
HEAD Coach
After playing minor football in the Ottawa area for eleven years, John Buck began coaching football in 1997, as a defensive assistant to his father Jack, the long-time Head Coach of the Bell Warriors (NCAFA) Peewee team. John continued to serve in various assistant coaching positions with the Warriors Peewees through the 2002 season.
In 2003, in his capacity as defensive backs coach, John helped the Myers Riders Jr. Varsity (OVFL) team capture the provincial championship, capping-off a perfect 11-0 season. It was also in 2003 that he became involved with the Myers Riders NCAFA program, serving as the defensive backs coach with the Bantam team.
Prior to the 2004 season, John was named Head Coach of the Myers Riders Bantams, a position he continues to hold. In his time with the Myers Riders Bantams, John has won city championships in 2004 and 2008. He was also the Head Coach of the NCAFA West All-Stars in 2006 and 2007 for having won the West Division both years.
In addition to his involvement with NCAFA and Jr. Varsity football, John has also coached in two separate stints with the Myers Riders Varsity (OVFL) team and has been coaching High School football with the South Carleton Storm (NCSSAA) since the 2007 season.
John is a fully certified NCCP Level 3 football coach who continues to seek knowledge by attending clinics on both sides of the border. He considers himself fortunate for having had the opportunity to learn from the coaches at the University of Ottawa as a guest coach at their main camp on three separate occasions.
For 2009, John plans to continue coaching with both the Myers Riders and South Carleton Storm.
